blue and pink heart bottle openersIf you have selected the pink and blue color combination as your wedding day’s motif, then brace yourself for tons of wedding ideas that you could use to make your big day extra special. You may use the colors as accents on your own wedding gown, the invitations, favors, wedding venue decorations and other things connected to the special occasion. Above all, you can opt for a blue and pink theme for your wedding’s grandiose reception.

At the reception, it’s undeniable that the tables are the center of attention, excluding the couple who just got married. To make it very memorable, you must plan your wedding tables very carefully. Guests will be dining, conversing and bonding over the tables during the reception, so it’s just proper for you and your soon-to-be husband to give it your best in providing a magnificent table decoration.

Shades and hues of blue include periwinkle, indigo, navy, cobalt, turquoise, sapphire and teal. If you want to use blue flowers on the decorations, choose delphiniums, hydrangeas and hyacinths. On the other hand, shades and hues of pink include salmon, blush, rose, magenta, fuschia and pastel. Peonies, gerbera daisies, lilies, orchids and roses are among the flowers that bear the color pink. The following is a list of ideas on how to use pink and blue on your wedding table decorations.

  1. If you have a dimmer reception venue, use tea light candles in blue and pink colored glass boxes and place these on each table. Watch your guests feel the dreamy and surreal atmosphere created by your interesting centerpiece. Just don’t forget to provide enough light for them to see their food.
  2. If you’re having a beach wedding, the perfect centerpiece would be large clear glass bowls that are tinted in blue and pink. Fill these with sand and some floating candles. You may also add some shells to complete the beachside effect.
  3. For a touch of romance on the wedding tables, sprinkle rose petals in various shades of pink and blue to complement the overall wedding theme.
  4. When selecting china ware for the reception, opt for the ones with the pink and blue accents.
  5. For added color and style, wrap the chairs with pink and blue organza ribbons adorned with flowers of the same colors.
  6. Use several pink and blue flower vases as the centerpiece on the table. Fill these with the flowers you have chosen for the wedding.
  7. Another centerpiece option is placing a large clear bowl of fresh fruits at the center of the table with produce that matches the overall theme.
  8. Candles ties with pretty ribbons also make magnificent table decorations in a wedding. Select pink and blue candles in varying shades, hues and sizes to create an artistic effect.

There’s really no limitation when it comes to wedding table accessories. You can use your imagination and come up with bright and unique ideas that have never been tried before or improve some traditional concepts. Just make sure that everything you choose is well-coordinated with your wedding’s main theme.

Birds on the Table!

When I was in North Carolina for my shower/brunch/bachelorette extravaganza, I had to take advantage of the craft stores. I have been on a hunt for birds to put on the tables. I got inspiration from these weddings where birds looked so adorable on the table.

I got sooooo lucky when I walked into Michaels and they had their fall stuff on sale to make room for the holiday stuff (who knew…it is only September!). I found these ADORABLE birds. They had 2 sizes, and the little ones were only $1.50 and the big ones were $2. I decided to buy them all. I thought I could put 2 on each table. I am excited!

I have to decide if I want to keep them the colors that they are, or paint them another color. My mom and sister both thought I should keep them the brown tones they currently are, because they “go with the fall theme”, but I am tempted to spray paint them a flat color, like a gray, or antique white.

(this is my attempt to show what the birds would look like if they were painted)

As a reminder, here is our inspiration board for the whole wedding.

What do you think, should I leave the birds the way they are, or should I spray paint them?

One of the simplest yet important things to consider in a wedding are the wedding favors. Of course you want your friends and family to remember this one momentous occasion and you want to give them something, a token of appreciation and something to keep and remember your wedding day. Now, you’re on a tight budget and still would want something to give away. Here are some inexpensive ideas you can make by yourself.

Personalized Chocolate bars
One sweet and inexpensive way of having your favors are personalized candies and chocolates. You can do this on your own. Chocolates can be expensive but there are a lot to choose from. You can opt to purchase inexpensive mini chocolate candy bars based on your budget. Peel off the paper label, leaving the foil intact and get the exact measurements of the label. Then you can have someone design your label or if you are creative you can design it on your own. Then print your design and cut the same measurement as the original label. You can use a simple paper, or a special glossy paper, depending on your choice. Now your label is ready! Wrap the label around the chocolate bar and paste ends together. Voila! You now have your personalized chocolate candy bars to give away.

Candy Bags
Another option is to purchase candies and put them inside a tulle pouch. All you need are candies, tulle material or organza. Tulle is the same fabric used in veils. You can purchase this in any color depending on your motif. Cut the tulle in squares in any size you want but keep it uniform. Get the candies and put them in the center of the tulle, get all ends together and tie with any string or ribbon. For the tags, you can have this printed out yourself, with you thank you note and the necessary details. Punch a hole, slide in a string and attach to the pouch.

Candy Filled Favor Tins
This is a really sweet and cute wedding favor. Use aluminum tins with clear top. Fill it with candies (jelly beans, candy sprinkles or tiny chocolate candies). Tie a ribbon or string around it. You can print out thank you notes in sticker paper or use tags.

Cookie Favor boxes
If you have a knack for baking, you can bake cookies and other goodies and pack tem inside a box. Personalize it by using stickers or tags.

Bookmarks
Bookmarks are inexpensive, and very useful souvenir. You can put quotes or poems or even a thank you note you wrote yourself. You can have it printed back to back or just one side. It’s really your choice. You can use board papers, which are widely available in bookstores.

Candles
Candles are also nice as wedding favors. There are a lot of sizes and shapes to choose from- scented or unscented. If you choose to have small to medium candles, you can just print out the label and paste it around the candle. You can also put ribbons, and other tiny decors you wish, then attach a tag to it. If you want to use tea light candles, you can also put them inside a tulle pouch, like the candies.

Bottled Favors
For this one you can buy empty clear bottles with cork lids, in any size, any shape you want. Think out of the box. You can put colored or plain sand or you can put confetti, which you can also make by yourself. You can put colored candy sprinkles as well. You have an option to paste the label outside the bottle or attach a thank you note tag on the bottle’s neck. Or you can simply put a scroll of paper inside the bottle.

Add decorations using ribbons or any string. If you want to use colored bottles, just decorated it with ribbons and strings, stickers, or use rubber glue stick or glitter paint for a personal and artistic touch. You can also use clear bottles and spray them with frosted glass spray you can buy at hardware stores and craft stores.

Wedding Soundtrack CD:
Got a theme song? Why not make your own wedding soundtrack? This is so easy and something your guests will enjoy. Pick songs to tell your love story and burn them in a CD. Personalize the CD sticker label with your thank you note and a photo.

Now doesn’t this makes planning your wedding all the more exciting? Adding personal touch in an inexpensive yet creative and artistic way of making your guests cherish and remember your wedding.
