Many modern brides choose to have a wedding with a specific theme. Why? Well, for one, it makes planning much easier. Instead of going over all the supplies and items for weddings, you just have to browse through those that are related to your theme. Not only that, it also gives a unique touch to the event, especially if you’ve chosen a theme that’s not yet been used many times before. If you’re wondering how to go about having a themed wedding, here are some themes and planning ideas that are sure to impress you.
Cherry Blossoms
The cherry blossom tree, which is “sakura” in Japanese, bears Japan’s unofficial national flower. It comes in various shades–white, light pink, hot pink, and red. Having this as a theme for your wedding is a fresh break from all the clichés that have been done before. Let’s start with the table centerpieces. Use tall clear vases with a bunch of cherry blossoms sticking out. Opt for white napkins with pink napkin rings and insert a small cherry blossom branch. Hang paper lanterns all over the reception area to give your event a Japanese ambience. Serve pink champagne or cherry cocktail to the guests.
Shabby Chic
A shabby chic theme calls for antique adornments that have a feminine feel. It’s different from the regular vintage as it’s more romantic and swanky. The most popular décor pieces for this are jelly cupboards and pie safes. You may also use vintage linens, vintage chandeliers and pillows made with vintage fabric. Almost anything that have rose designs will also work. Attach dried grass and lavender to the pews at the ceremony site. Fill the tables with candles in colored mason jars. Dress up the buffet table with rustic wreaths.
Beach
Don’t think that just because so many couples have gotten hitched at the beach, there’s no way you can out-do them. The truth is, there are still a hundred of ideas that could make your beach wedding out of the ordinary. For the color scheme, instead of going for the usual deep-sea blue, choose light emerald green and chocolate brown color combination. Bright yellow and light orange are also nice options. It would also help to have a more specific beach theme. For example, if you want to go Caribbean, make use of orchids, hibiscus and exotic lilies for the décor. Dress up the nearby palm trees with conch shells.
Victorian Vintage
Who doesn’t love the classic look of a Victorian vintage wedding that’s filled with elegance and nostalgia? Have a Victorian garden wedding and wow your guests with an event that exudes with old world charm. You may also hold it inside a Victorian style mansion. As for the decors, just opt for pieces that speak of elegance and class. Floral designs should dominate your decorative pieces. Make use of velvet fabrics, damasks and needlepoints to achieve the look that you want. Best colors to use are red, bottle green and eggplant purple.
These themes may have been used before but as said earlier, there are tons of other new ideas out there that you can use to make this a brand new experience for you and your guests.
